This is Tim Rogers, founder and director of Action Button Entertainment speaking.
We plan to stream VIDEOBALL as regularly as possible on our channel, which is twitch.tv/actionbutton.
Streaming is obviously, stupidly essential to building a community. We want to involve all of you in the process of streaming in as many meaningful ways as possible.
So I would like to ask you all a couple of questions!
What time would you prefer us to stream?
Would you prefer to only watch the stream, or would you want to be one of the players playing on the stream?
If playing on the stream, would you prefer to be voice-chatting with us on Discord (from whence we will be piping your voice into the stream!), or would you rather be silent?
Rate the following modes in order of most to least interesting for the stream: 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3
Would you prefer to watch ranked or exhibition matches? Would the type of match being played affect your own willingness to play with us on the stream?
Which platform would you rather we play on (this question sort of presumes you'll be playing): Steam, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One
Finally, which of these sorts of stream variations seems good to you:
•Random: Tim (that's me) starts a stream and just plays random games online, yelling at people in the chat / Discord to get in and challenge him, and paying really no specific heed to opponent names / teams.
•With Action Button: Tim hosts a stream; Kerwin gets online, and maybe Porter gets on as well. It's the same as the above stream type, except sometimes we Action Button founders encounter one another, and sometimes we encounter you.
•Against Action Button: Tim (that's still me), Kerwin, and / or Porter form a private room and we invite in teams of viewers who want to challenge us. This can be 2 on 2 or 3 on 3.
•Special Guests: Action Button plays against YouTubers / streamers / journalists, for Big Thrills.
•Featured players: I (or we) invite in players we like, and we all watch them crush us. I try in vain to commentate and analyze what the players are doing. We play solo 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 exhibitions, and we let the teams shuffle all night. We generally keep one group of guests on for the entire stream.
•Highlight Reel: I encourage all players to record as many matches of yours as you can, and send me your best. Put them on YouTube, if you can. Email them to tim at actionbutton dot com with the subject line "Highlight Reel". I play these clips one after another, and stream myself watching and discussing them.
. . . These are the types of shows I want to be doing. We'll do these sorts of streams as frequently as the money allows us to. I just want to know which ones sound cooler to you!
