Hello! This is Tim Rogers, founder & director of Action Button Entertainment + Director & Designer of VIDEOBALL.
We need your help in order to make this game even marginally more popular than it is at the moment.
I would like you to record your online multiplayer games! Just, record however many of them you feel comfortable recording!
You can use OBS or XSplit.
You can use a capture card such as an elgato Game Capture HD or a Razer Ripsaw. With these capture cards you can quite easily capture 1080p 60fps footage.
1080p 60fps footage is what we like.
If you're using free XSplit, you can't record in 1080p 60fps without a watermark. With paid XSplit, you can remove the watermark.
We don't want the watermark! It gets in the way of the hotness of VIDEOBALL.
If you don't want to pay to remove the watermark, you can record in 720p 60fps.
Earlier I said 1080p 60fps is what we like. Let me refine that: we like 60fps more than we like 1080p. I mean, have you seen the graphics of our game?
Visual requests: If you're recording footage for highlights, I'd prefer it if you turn on "random" balls. (This is so that it's easy to follow the "story" of a particular ball in the editing / scrubbing process. It is in fact why this feature exists in the game! How about that)
Right now, you cannot do this from the in-game pause menu or the main-menu options. In our next patch, you will be able to do both of these.
In order to turn on random balls, you will need to enter a local game.
I like to do 1 on 1, because it's faster.
Add yourself and a bot.
Pick the basic arena.
Now scroll down in the pre-game options to the visual tweaks. Feel free to choose a color scheme you like (I don't mind which one you use, though I sort of don't like the super-desaturated brown-walls one (we put that in there for FPS fans))).
I'd recommend choosing a zone line configuration that looks good, as well. Zone lines #14 are quite striking even with background #1. In fact, they're good for the purpose of my editing highlights, as well!!
Once you've done all this, simply, uh, choose "go back" to go back to the arena select. Then choose "go back" again. Then choose "back" from the team select screen. Now enter the online mode. Yeah, we should have put this stuff in the pause menu!! God dang it.
Here's the worst part: every time you shut the game down, the game will remember your color choices, though not the background, zone lines, or random balls, so you'll need to do this over again.
For the purpose of my editing footage together into a seamless / hot video, I'd prefer it if you turn off our beautiful, delicious music.
Please only send me recordings where you were hosting
Also please turn off your Steam Big Picture Mode notifications and sound effects!
I am looking for primarily 2 on 2 matches, though some 1 on 1 or 3 on 3 would be cool as well!!
If you have some matches recorded that you would like to send me, please email me at tim at actionbutton dot com with the subject line "VIDEOBALL highlights", or DM me on Twitter (@108). My DMs are open!
In your message, please tell me the email address you use to log in to Dropbox! I will make you a folder to put your stuff in.
I hope to have some good highlights for a big video next week!!
